The Durham High School wrestling team has won their 12th Small School Sections Championship, a run of dominance that began in 2010 with the only blemish being the 2014 season. Durham is now focusing their attention on the North Section Master’s Meet. This tournament includes wrestlers from all schools regardless of enrollment size in the North Section. The 2023-2024 season has been a banner year for the program as it has achieved tournament team titles at River Valley and Corning, placing second in Orland, third at the Joe Rios Memorial Tournament, and even placing in the top 10 at the prestigious Five Counties Tournament held in Fountain Valley. Individually, DHS wrestlers have also received accolades at the state level with several earning rankings: Senior Geo Rico is currently ranked 18th, Junior Richie Halvorson is 20th and Freshman Landon Salindong is 24th. DHS Girl’s wrestling has a Sacramento Valley League and Small School Section title in what has also been a break out year for their program. DHS Girls regular season tournament results include a 3rd place at the Doc Petersen, 4th at River Valley and 3rd at the North Valley Classic. The Lady Trojans are led by senior Rae Halvorson who finished in the top 12 in CIF last year.
